Remodeling Suggestions

Preparation for  an enjoyable remodeling project:

  • Remove and box all the kitchen items. Place them in a room that you will probably use as the temporary kitchen during your remodeling project. Don't forget to label the boxes! It will be more fun moving back into your new kitchen if you know what is in the boxes.
  • Don't forget about the refrigerator! You will need a temporary area to relocate the refrigerator during the remodeling process.
  • You will probably need a microwave and a stock of frozen microwavable meals.
  • Don't forget the coffee maker (filters and coffee are also important)!
  • You will need an alternate water source for meal preparation and clean up.
  • Plastic utensils and paper plates are also a good idea.
  • Make a list of the restaurants you've been meaning to visit. If you get a little bored with the initial microwave meals, you might need this list for a fresh and exciting meal!

Recommended Remodeling Process

Preparation:

  • If possible, assemble a portfolio of photos, magazine articles, notes, etc. that you find while looking for ideas.
  • Draw a rough sketch of your existing room and label it with the approximate measurements of walls, doorways, windows, etc.
  • Contact us to make an appointment to discuss your project.

Visit our showroom:

During your initial visit to our showroom, we will:

  • Answer any questions you might have.
  • Discuss your ideas.
  • Discuss your floor plan and go over possible design ideas.
  • Show you the "Miller Cabinet" and explain the benefits of working with "Miller Cabinetry" during your project.
  • If possible, give you a tour of our manufacturing facility.

If you decide to offer us the opportunity to assist you:

  • We will visit your home and discuss your ideas and design possibilities. During this time we will take pictures and exact measurements.
  • We will return to our showroom and design your kitchen based on the visit to your home and the "Kitchen Planning Questionnaire."
  • We will contact you and make an appointment with you to return to our showroom. During this appointment, we will show you the design and provide you with an initial quotation.
  • If the quotation is within your budget, we will discuss any changes you would like to make and provide a revised design at a future date.
  • We will continue this process until you are comfortable with the design of your new kitchen.
  • When the final design is complete, we will prepare a contract to be signed by all parties involved.

The actual remodel:

Depending upon the scope of work detailed in the contract, Miller Cabinetmakers, you, and/or a subcontractor will perform the following:

  • The existing cabinets and counters will be removed.
  • Any plumbing and/or electrical rough-in will be done.
  • Any sheetrock, plaster, paneling, painting, wallpaper etc. will be done.
  • Flooring work is usually done prior to the cabinet installation.
  • The new cabinets, countertops, and appliances will be installed.
  • Plumbing and/or electrical trim out will complete the new kitchen.
